Many ladies have found themselves in the position of having started laser hair removal and in the meantime becoming pregnant, and of course they ask us whether they should continue or stop the sessions until after giving birth.

Because we always base our opinions and the services we offer on scientific data and research. Something that all scientists should do without letting other factors cloud their judgment, We DO NOT recommend the application of laser hair removal to pregnant women and We do NOT provide this service during pregnancy.

And this is because:

There is no scientific research proving that laser hair removal is safe during pregnancy. On the contrary, the lack of data and the potential for risks lead most experts worldwide to recommend avoiding it during pregnancy.

Possible risks:Increased skin sensitivity: Hormonal changes during pregnancy can make the skin more sensitive, increasing the risk of burns, irritation, or hyperpigmentation.

Insufficient effectiveness: Hormonal fluctuations can affect the hair growth cycle, making laser hair removal less effective.

Insufficient research: The absence of studies means there is no clear understanding of how laser treatments may affect fetal development.

What do the studies say?

A 2019 systematic review examined 22 publications that involved the use of lasers in 380 pregnant women for various medical indications. The study reported no serious complications, but emphasized that the data came mainly from cases of medical necessity and not from cosmetic treatments such as hair removal.

Another review confirms that there is no data on the safety of laser hair removal during pregnancy and that most guidelines do not recommend the use of such cosmetic procedures during pregnancy.

Conclusion:

Given the lack of scientific data proving the safety of laser hair removal during pregnancy and the potential risks, we recommend avoiding this procedure during pregnancy. Alternative hair removal methods, such as shaving, waxing or tweezing, are considered safer options for pregnant women.
